Is this a DIY AI tool or a managed service?

A fully managed service. We deploy named Smart Assistants into the systems you already use, oversee them, and escalate to humans when confidence drops. You are not buying another chatbot trial—you are buying capacity with a clear monthly fee.

Why not just buy a cheap DIY AI receptionist for £40–£90 a month?

Those tools sell access to a voice bot. UK SMEs often stall on trust, time, and unclear ROI. Bureau desks sell managed outcomes—calls answered and booked, presence kept alive, leads followed up, invoices chased—with human escalation, UK data residency, and a free growth audit. From £350/mo you are buying capacity that protects revenue and cash, not another experiment tab.

Do you offer an AI receptionist or virtual receptionist for UK SMEs?

Yes—BureauDesk™ is our managed AI receptionist and virtual receptionist desk: 24/7 call answering, qualification and diary booking with human escalation and UK data residency. From £350/mo ex VAT. Start with a free growth audit.

Is this like a virtual PA or outsourced admin for small businesses?

Yes in outcome, clearer in product. Instead of one generic virtual PA, you choose investable desks—reception, marketing, lead follow-up, credit control, CRM hygiene—staffed by named Smart Assistants. That is managed capacity, not another freelancer tab.

Where is our data stored if we use AI assistants?

Your data is stored and managed in UK data centres under UK GDPR–aligned controls. Assistants escalate to a human when they cannot answer with high confidence. Data is never used to train public AI models.

We have no time or AI budget for experiments—why start?

Start with a free growth audit and a clear monthly fee from £350/mo ex VAT. Many desks include a 14-day cancel window. We measure ROI in hours reclaimed and revenue or cash protected—not in novelty pilots.

How does the assistant handle a phone call it doesn't understand?

Assistants use confidence thresholds. If they cannot answer reliably, they politely transfer the call or ticket to a designated human on your side—so callers are never left in a dead-end bot loop.

How do the assistants access my systems? Do I need an API?

They work primarily through the same interfaces your team already uses—CRM, email, diary, accounting—via secure credentials. No complex API project is required to go live.

Can I customise the assistant's voice and accent?

Yes. For voice-enabled assistants, you can select from a library of regional British accents—from "Professional London" to "Friendly Northern".

What if it doesn't work out?

You can pause or cancel under the terms of your desk—many include a 14-day cancel window after go-live, then standard notice thereafter. No long DIY build to unwind.

Will this replace my current team?

No. Assistants absorb repetitive admin—missed-call cover, chasing, scheduling hygiene, consistent follow-up—so your specialists reclaim time for delivery, clients, and growth.

Does this require any technical knowledge from my team?

None. We build, deploy, and manage the assistants. Your team works with them like additional colleagues—no coding, no configuration burden.

How quickly can we start to see results?

Most UK SMEs begin reclaiming meaningful capacity within the first 14 days. Typical gains show up as answered enquiries, faster follow-up, and fewer hours lost to routine admin.

Is The Agent Bureau only for trades or solar firms?

No. The commercial shelf is for UK SMEs of all kinds—clinics, agencies, professional services, property, retail, and more. Sector playbooks show how the same desks apply in brokers, accountancy, R&D advisory, early years, social care, farms, waste, renewables and trades.

How do I get started?

Request a free growth audit from any page. We map missed calls, visibility gaps, slow follow-up and late invoices to the right desks, then propose a clear monthly path—usually live within about 14 days.
